A Study of the Maximum Bite Force of Full Denture Wearing Patients

Abstract
The increasing degree of bite force in denture wearing patients and its maximum bite force were measured after its functional recovery.
The results were as follows.
1) The bite force measured when the denture was delivered on the first day is 2.35 kg at the molar and 1.90 kg at the premolar region which is one-fifth of the maximum bite force at the same region. After a week the value showed about 1/3 and after a month about 3/; of the maximum bite force.
2) The maximum bite force of denture wearer is 15.4kg at the molar region and 9.5 kg at the premolar region.
3) The corelation between left and right region bite force is 0.79 at the molar region and 0.92 at the premolar region.
4) The maximum bite force of denture wearer is 2/7 of that of the natural dentition at the molar region and 1/4 at the premolar region.
5) The maximum bite force of denture wearer vary- considerably because of health condition, adaptability of denture and sore spots etc.
